This house, believed to be the most haunted location in all of Ireland, has a storied and eerie past that ultimately led to its abandonment. Its legendary status as a haunted site made it the primary shooting location for the 2017 horror film The Lodgers, further cementing its reputation in popular culture.

The first known ghost story associated with the house dates back to the 17th century, when the owner reportedly invited a bystander inside, suspecting them to be a supernatural being. This tale marks the beginning of the house's long history of ghostly encounters and paranormal activity.

Loftus Hall has a tumultuous history, changing hands multiple times over the years, with many owners concerned about its unfortunate legacy. In 2011, Shane and Aidan Quigley acquired the property and undertook extensive restoration efforts. Their goal was to revitalize the mansion and transform it into a venue for haunted tours and chilling overnight stays, capitalizing on its reputation as one of Ireland's most infamous haunted locations.

The Quigleys successfully operated the tours until 2020, providing visitors with a unique opportunity to experience the eerie atmosphere of Loftus Hall firsthand.
