He briefly showed it to the receptionist. She looked troubled, exchanging a puzzled glance with him—confirmation that this was no ordinary case. Other animals reacted oddly, though the room remained calm overall.
Each minute stretched. The receptionist’s wary look fueled his unease. Answers were near—was he ready to hear them?
