11.A Natural Mystery

Finding moss beside such a tiny black “puppy” felt odd. Addison wondered if it was a nest. Studying the site, he noticed unusual order. The mossy area near the creature looked deliberately arranged. His instincts flared: something was off.
The spot resembled a den more than a random place for a domestic dog. He noticed worn paths and subtle signs of habitation—clues of regular wildlife use. Could this be a fox den? A coyote’s rest?
The more he saw, the stronger his suspicions. Close to water, naturally sheltered—this was a wild animal’s shelter. Nothing suggested a domestic dog had chosen it by chance.
