Recently animals trapped beneath a shallow storm grate were located. Though the space was not deep they were unable to climb out. Firefighters first assumed they were small trapped domestic animals then realized from cries they were infants. Removed and transported to the Woodland Park veterinary clinic they received care.
At such facilities young fox kits and similar wildlife are supported until strong enough for release. While isolation does not always equal distress appropriate timely intervention in genuine peril can be decisive.
