Bred as a companion for the elite, it lounged in royal households. Once among the rarest breeds, its numbers are slowly rebounding. Small and sprightly, the Löwchen weighs up to 18 pounds. It is lively, smart, and cheerful. Generally healthy with a 12–14 year lifespan, pet insurance can be prudent due to its rarity.
