3. Treats Canker Sores

Though small, canker sores can be incredibly painful. These are tiny round ulcers that form inside the mouth rather than on the lips. They do not spread and often appear after eating too many fatty foods. While canker sores usually heal on their own, the pain can be intense. Use the baking soda mouthwash described in number 2—one to two teaspoons of baking soda diluted in half a glass of water—daily if you have a canker sore. Research shows this can greatly reduce pain and help the healing process.
