33. Shar-Pei
The Shar-Pei is a Chinese breed with southern origins. Known for their deep wrinkles in the West, Hong Kong Shar-Peis are less wrinkled. Ranked 64th on the American Kennel Club's list of preferred breeds, their soft face, strong body, and behavior toward strangers all play a part. In threat or confusion, they may revert to their ancient instincts, becoming alert and distant. The Shar-Pei will fight back with determination until the threat is gone.
